TRUE and FALSE…CLEAR ANSWERS ABOUT AGE DEFYING INJECTABLES
A brief review from my last blog on looking younger instantly will be helpful to understanding this blog. So, here goes.
When cosmetic surgeons first began using injectable fillers, they were used exclusively to fill in facial lines and folds. Fillers today are significantly advanced and are used for much more. They replace volume and reposition the skin to add volume, actually lift folds, smooth out lines and wrinkles and take years off an aging face…instantly and with longer lasting results from these advanced formulas.
TODAY’S INJECTABLES DO PREVENT LINES and WRINKLES and THEY LIFT SAGGING SKIN! They are truly amazing and they do achieve results either instantly or gradually and subtly.
FILLERS and INJECTABLES are one of the most requested anti aging treatments today because they offer quick results and minimal downtime. However, there is some misleading information out there about what they can and cannot do. This false information causes much confusion. That is the reason for this blog on “True and False”…real clear answers about injectables.
THE MAIN INJECTABLE MYTHS:
FALSE…Lines, wrinkles and folds are the same.
TRUE…lines are subtle etches in the skin; wrinkles appear deeper but not as deep as folds and folds occur mostly around the mouth and are visible even when there is no facial motion (facial expressions).
FALSE…Injectable neurotoxins “freeze” your muscles to erase fine lines and wrinkles.
TRUE…Neurotoxins do not freeze muscles instead they weaken and relax them to slow down those “muscles in motion” and reduce the formation of lines and wrinkles. They are line correctors.
I use BOTOX or DYSPORT (neurotoxins) to effectively erase Crow’s Feet and to lift Droopy Eye Brows.
TRUE…Results from neurotoxins are not permanent but they can keep you line free for many months without hassle.
FALSE…Repeat injection treatments with neurotoxins will prevent any future facial expressions. Not true! The only way this can happen is if the injection is placed incorrectly. I’ve been treating patients for over two decades with neurotoxins and the only effect is that the muscles get smaller and weaker over time. But, muscles are constantly developing new receptor sites to replace those that have been blocked, so the muscle is able to contract again. That’s why periodic treatments are needed to stay line free.
Today we have Line Correctors, Wrinkle Plumpers and Collagen Creators…all amazing, safe and effective to take years off an aging face!
FALSE…all injectables are the same. Not so!
TRUE…Neurotoxins smooth out wrinkles and fillers “fill in” lines and wrinkles and add volume. Also, Hyaluronic acid fillers work similarly but they vary in thickness which determines where they should be used. For example: Restylane, Juvederm, or Belotero are fabulous for Tear Troughs and Hollows…BUT FOR CHEEKS, TEMPLES AND JAWLINES…THE RIGHT CHOICE IS VOLUMA XC, RADIESSE, PERLANE, RESTYLANE and JUVEDERM ULTRA PLUS to restore fullness and youthfulness and to lift sagging skin.
FALSE…you can never “look done” with fillers since they are not surgery.
TRUE…over injecting too much product or the wrong product can cause the face to look unbalanced (done). To get that “natural” look you must understand and address what’s going on with the natural aging process and then treat accordingly. People, who start treatments when younger and then maintain them…always look years younger…naturally!
